Salt Cancer Initiative (SCI), a non-profit dedicated to supporting cancer patients in Vietnam, developed a mobile app to seamlessly connect patients with vital services and support. Addressing the unique needs of those battling cancer, the app provides a platform for easy access to healthcare services, transportation, and therapeutic activities. In this project, I was responsible for the UI design, focusing on creating an accessible and user-friendly interface, ensuring that the app not only met the functional requirements but also embodied the compassionate spirit of SCI, facilitating a smoother journey for patients during their challenging times.
A Work Done for Salt Cancer Initiative | Year: 2020 | Role: UI/UX Designer
About the Project
SCI ecosystem targets to serve 24/7 needs of cancer patients by connecting with partners who can offer their products & services to cancer patients. SCI partnered with Grab to offer promotion code for patients to book Grab to hospital, partner with e-Doctor to offer free home-based test, Elite Fitness to offer free weekly yoga classes, and Tipsy Art to offer free drawing classes, etc.
In order to bring the SCI Ecosystem closer to cancer patients, SCI is building the first mobile phone app in Vietnam to help connect the cancer-specific ecosystem. Through this app, patients can easily register activities, check in by QR code when attending the events, receive preferential packages from SCI's partners as well as give feedback to SCI. At the same time, the app also helps SCI to ensure transparency of information about partner preferential packages for patients.
App Functions
For the initial phase of launching, the app will allow users to (1) register to be in the SCI Ecosystem, (2) sign up for SCI events and receive QR code as their tickets, (3) receive supports from SCI's corporate partners for their cancer battle journey.
As SCI Ecosystem being developed and physically built in HCM city, functions that support the connections of the Ecosystem such as payment at SCI partners' supermarket, entrance ID to library or activities and more will be developed then.
SCI's Mobile App Announcement
Sign In
The app allows its members to login via social media accounts as well as via their phone numbers. We keep it simple and straightforward for our older users who aren't so much of tech savvies.
In case of forgetting password, users can always set new one by One-Time-Password (OTP) that will be sent to the phone number registered with the system.
Event
Registration
One of the main purposes of this application is to apply technology to enable our patients to browse and register for SCI events, while helping our organization synchronize the data of those who have attended and received support from our resources.
Major events will be displayed on the top banners to make sure our users won't miss out. Right below will be the weekly activities for our users to choose from.
After agreeing to our terms and confirming the event information, the user will receive a registration confirmation message and get their ticket (QR Code).
Event page displays detailed information of the event and allows the registration for it. Users can also contact the event organizer directly from here.
Users will be able to find their QR tickets for upcoming or past events in the ticket wallet located inside the tapbar.
The QR ticket will be scanned by SCI staff at the site of the event. This will completely get rid of paper tickets that SCI used to use before.
Profile
Validation
In order to keep track of members' data in the system, we ask any patients/survivors who join to verify their information with government-issued-ID and medical records.
Warning popup will show up on accounts that are not validated as a reminder.
Users send in their documents by scanning them with their phone camera or upload them directly from their photo library.
There are 2 steps of profile verification: fill in basic information and upload documents.
Once the account is validated, users can start receiving the benefit from SCI Ecosystem such as free tickets to conferences and discount from SCI partners. They can always go back and edit their profile, which located inside the tapbar.
Receiving
Rewards
Rewards and discounts from SCI's partners like Grab, eDoctor, Tipsy Art, Elite Fitness will be sent directly to each patient through their app account. This is to ensure transparency in the distribution of partner preferential packages for patients.
The coupon page will show users detailed information of their reward, including expiration date, conditions of application, and a copy button just so our users can save and paste it to the partner's app.
Users are also notified when they receive a new reward code from their notification bell, along with other notifications such as changes from their registered events or news updates from the organization.
The Rewards Wallet, located inside the hamburger menu, keeps all valid/expired coupons and organizes them into categories such as transportation, medical services or fitness services.
